Chapter Two - The Transition

Damek stood silently before the huge silver archway that appeared out of the mist. He couldn’t see what was beyond it until he started to walk forward and the closer he came to the shimmering entrance, the more the corridor behind it began to take shape. He was calm yet excited. There was nothing in his experience that prepared him for this feeling of excitement mixed with anticipation. The impressions left in his mind by the Master added to his expectations. He knew, because of these impressions, that this corridor would lead him to some type of transitional place; a place that would prepare him for his descent into the lower energy planes.

The corridor floor was pure white stone and the silvery walls resounded with a soft humming as though someone, somewhere was quietly strumming a stringed instrument. Step by step he kept moving, sensing a long journey ahead. He saw no indication of another living being anywhere and wondered if Pearl was transitioning also. The Master hadn’t enlightened him about that. His thoughts quietly left Azure behind the further he traveled down the silver corridor.

After what seemed forever, a doorway appeared before Damek, blocking any continuing of the corridor at that point. Opening the door, he entered a medium sized room containing only what appeared to be a flat, narrow platform. Everything was white and sterile. There were no signs of any being to greet him or inform him of what was to happen next. As he moved toward the platform, the door behind him slowly closed on its own and he knew that there was no return to Azure now. He bowed his head and with eyes closed sent a mind-message to the Master.

“Oh Master, give me peace for what lies ahead. I don’t understand this strange unfamiliar place. It does not feel comfortable to me. I feel very alone.” He felt a compulsion to lie down on the bed-like platform, which he did, arms straight at his sides and facing up to the soft white ceiling. He began to feel the tension dissolve as the Master’s peace began to settle over him. He knew the Master was in control and there was nothing to fear. He was not used to the emotion of fear but was aware of it from his and Pearl's adventures in various dimensions. He began to feel very sleepy and could hardly keep his eyes open. As he drifted into unconsciousness, he saw shadows of beings emerge as if from the walls. A whirring sound accompanied them which induced sleep even more and then he knew nothing.

Damek had never dreamed before. There were no dreams in the unconscious minds of the sons in Azure. In fact, there was no unconscious mind at all. Their minds were clear, pure and fully functioning and there were no repressed emotions or shadowy intentions hidden below the surface. But now Damek dreamed. A new component had been added to his conscious reality. He didn’t evaluate it or try to understand, he just slipped into that alternate reality entirely within his own mind and began to live it. The white room, the small, flat bed and shadowy entities disappeared as he slept and when he finally awoke, he was something entirely different than anything he had ever known. His memories of Azure were very vague now as was the memory of the white room. Chapter Three - Damek Discovers Neveah
