Chapter Three - Damek Discovers Neveah

Damek lay in the cool grass near a sparkling, clear little brook. There were trees, beautiful flowers and prolific vegetation everywhere. Although he did not understand how he got there, he was aware still that he was where he was supposed to be and he remembered the Master. This was so because he felt that electrical yet peaceful presence everywhere. It seemed like the whole atmosphere was filled with his wonderful presence. Damek stretched out lazily and basked in the pleasure and joy of it all. He was totally and ultimately happy and content. The moment he was experiencing was unhindered by past or future, it was life in its fullest measure. Nothing could possibly be better than this.

At one point in the enjoyment of his new environment he thought to explore and see where the brook wended its way through the trees beyond his view. He soon established that there were endless trees, plants and flowers everywhere. Although he was not hungry, he saw luscious, ripe fruit of many colors and shapes hanging from many of the trees. As he was contemplating their tempting lure and beginning to feel a desire to pick one and taste it, he suddenly became aware of another being. He stopped short and just stared. This being was like no one he had ever seen before. Something like a light breeze went through his mind and quietly told him that the being was a woman.

Damek took in the long, chestnut colored hair softly surrounding a gentle, lovely face. Her body was so different than his and he couldn’t take his eyes away. Something happened inside his chest, something like a lurch of pain and joy as the breeze again went through his mind and said that the woman was his. Feelings and emotions he had never experienced before engulfed him and made him weak. He was glad the woman did not know he was there, staring at her like that. It gave him a little feeling of embarrassment he had never felt before. A desire to impress her and be acceptable made him slip behind a tree to be sure she didn’t turn toward him when he felt so foolish. Never before had he felt inadequate; There were so many new feelings, he could barely keep himself from running away.

He couldn’t face her yet. He had to think about this. For awhile he followed her at a distance but refrained from staring because something inside told him it was not honorable. When she stopped and rested under a tree, he too rested for awhile, out of sight but close enough to hear if she started moving again. He didn’t want to lose her! Chapter Four - Neveah and the Master
